This orange sherbet is creamy and bright with orange flavor. Now I love a good sherbet, and I must say this is better than what you can find in the grocery store. Unless you go to Jeni’s ice cream parlor and get the rainbow sherbet they have, because that stuff is delicious! I find the best way to enjoy this sherbet is to have it on top of a waffle cone. You an never go wrong with a good waffle cone and a triple scoop of ice cream on top. Now go and make this creamy dreamy treat!
Not a fan of orange sherbet? You can replace the orange juice with the juice from limes, lemons or even grapefruit. If you have a juicer, you can juice raspberries or strawberries and make it a little more fun as well, but the end result might not be the same as a citrus juice.
Above are some products that I personally use and recommend for this recipe and to have for everyday use. I highly suggest the ice cream maker that I listed above. It’s cheaper than others and it does it’s job just like the other’s. It’s also easy to clean and super easy to use!
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch salt
- place the cream, orange juice, sugar, salt and vanilla into a bowl and whisk together to make sure the sugar dissolves. cover with cling wrap and place the ice cream base into the fridge overnight to cool and to let the flavor increase. following the manufacturer's instructions of your ice cream machine, turn the base for 20-25 minutes. place the ice cream into a freezer safe container and freeze overnight to firm up.
